The aim of all sorts off Manipulation - physical or mental - is to establish Domination and whenever we meet it, we have encountered the Devil and his cohorts.
Satan's greatest weapon against us is Not Temptation but Confusion. He often sows discord, doubt and disorientation among God’s people. It is only expected that the “Father of lies” (ref John 8:44), would present conflicting information or beliefs, so that God's people inevitably go awry.
The scripture consistently portrays God, as a God of order, not of confusion (ref 1 Corinthians 14:33). This contrast suggests that while Satan may use confusion as a tool, ultimately clarity and truth prevail. Clarity about God's will is our spiritual birthright stemming from the entitlement of sons, Not a cosmic mystery waiting to be decoded. In that case, it would be Spiritual Manipulation dressed up as Humility.
Satan's title as “the deceiver of the whole world” encapsulates his role in causing widespread confusion and misunderstanding and this leads us to the realisation that confusion is not merely a personal struggle but a global spiritual reality.
The Devil intensifies and directs our own sinfulness. As an example: — “And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;” [John 13:2; KJV]
The Devil only reinforced Judas' inordinate affinity and greed towards wealth (ref John 12:6). Jesus was not the kind of Messiah, Judas wanted to follow. He had other things going on in his mind and heart which ultimately made him predisposed to act in a very specific way, which led to the betrayal of Our Lord.
The human mind is the gateway between revelation and reality. Tampering with it is a surefire way of confusing man. Contradictory doctrines and theologies serve the Devil's purpose in myriad ways.
I) Misinterpretation of the Word —”Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” [2 Timothy 2:15; KJV]
It is the doctrines of devils, commandments of men and lack of knowledge on how the bible interprets itself, that are to blame.Confusion leads to conniving at moral offences and tolerating idolatry amongst others. Thus God's lament —
The bible is not confusing. It is the most logical book out there. Approximately 2,500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, and an astounding 80% of it has been already been fulfilled. So, I don't think it is any stretch of the imagination to assume that the remaining will be fulfilled too.
III) Doubting the word — We are called upon to understand the revealed word of God in the scripture. As Moses put it,
“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” [Deuteronomy 29:29; KJV]
By getting people to focus on the secret things, the Devil leads people astray. Like the many predictions out there on the internet.
Our God is incomprehensible. His omnipotence, immutability, holiness are beyond our comprehension. The scripture attests to it 👇
This verse illustrates that there are some characteristics that belong to God alone and others which we cannot even fathom.
IV) Novices and Neophytes — When you doubt the word, you fail to walk in the authority that the Lord purchased by his sacrificial death on the cross. The christian becomes paralyzed, frustrated, second-guessing and powerless.
He becomes spiritually passive. Praying with confidence becomes impossible, always hesitating to claim promises. The tragic reality is that Confusion sabotages our effectiveness in the kingdom.
